Take a closer look at where we make our shoes
MADE IN CHINA
We proudly produce shoes in China and aim to dispel stigmas around quality and working conditions associated with manufacturing in the region. We have worked with two factory partners in China since the inception of INTENTIONALLY BLANK. Specializing in small boutique production with a focus on high-quality craftsmanship, both operations are situated in Houjie, China. These facilities are highly sophisticated, providing progressive working environments for their small teams of skilled workers. Through these intimate partnerships, we have direct access to production at every level. Our team conducts regular visits to the factories and sample rooms, working alongside our partners to develop new products and ensure quality standards are met. Our primary partner in China is entirely woman-owned and operated. This close relationship has enabled us to work at a higher level to focus on quality, innovative techniques and elevated processes in our manufacturing. We are currently collaborating closely with this partner to identify opportunities to use recycled leather in our shoes and to develop new product lines using scrap and excess materials. There is a global misconception that shoes made in China are poor quality. For decades, China has been a powerhouse in the footwear industry. While there are certainly mass production facilities across the country, we choose to work with small agents and factories that align with our values. Our Chinese partners boast a wealth of expertise and a level of craftsmanship that rivals our factories in Spain.

Situated in the surrounding areas of Alicante, Spain, we have cultivated enduring relationships in a traditional production environment. The use of Spanish leathers and adherence to time-honored production practices imbue our shoes with a sense of uniqueness and quality. While production in Europe may require more time, it is characterized by a rich history of shoemaking, meticulous attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to the craft.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, INTENTIONALLY BLANK cautiously ventured into production in Brazil, embarking on our first trip to Porto Alegre in 2022. The Brazilian footwear industry has encountered significant challenges over the years but is experiencing a resurgence in export business. Our search for like-minded factory partners has been a remarkably inspiring journey, as we've had the opportunity to meet passionate shoemakers from multi-generational operations. As Brazil reemerges onto the global stage of footwear, we are integrating more styles from this region into our collection. Our experience in Brazil has been marked by witnessing the industry's transition towards more sustainable practices and innovative production methods, as it strives to establish itself as a major global player in the shoe industry.
